Eminence National Advisory Committee includes high profile scientists, physicians, economists, sociologists, education specialists and journalists. This formal National Advisory Committee – known as the NAC. The NAC guides the organization for making its Strategic Direction and can advise, suggest, and support the organization to achieve the stated vision, mission, and goal of the organization. Aktari Mamtaz is working a the Secretary at Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Before this position, she was the Additional Secretary at Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Later on she was at the position of Additional Secretary at Ministry of Public Administration, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. She has done her graduation from University of Dhaka. Aktari Mamataz has been involved with many social development activities in Bangladesh. With vast working experience in the public development field, she is also working as an advisor for some national and international organizations.
Ashok Madhdeb Roy
Ashok Madhdeb Roy is an ex-secretary of the Ministry of Shipping, Government of Bangladesh. He has started his career with Government of Bangladesh and served for 33 years. Mr. Roy graduated in 1982 and earned his master’s degree in 1983 from the department of Botany at Chittagong University. In this long tenure of GOB assignments, he served the government in field administration (upazila and district) level as Magistrate, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, additional deputy commissioner. In the ministry level served in the Local Government Division for more than 14 years, starting from senior assist secretary to additional secretary. During this long tenure in the Local Government Division, he was engaged with rural and urban infrastructure development and small-scale water resources development for creating local level infrastructural facilities thus contributing towards the goal of attaining economic growth. Apart from that as his responsibilities extend administrative and technical assistance to the Local Government Institutions (LGIs). He was one of the fortunate bureaucrats who were responsible for formulating, monitor, cordination, and implement more than 100 projects in the area of rural and urban infrastructure development.
Dr. Abu Jamil Faisel
Dr. Abu Jamil Faisel is a public health physician with more than 33 years of diverse experience with family planning, reproductive health, the Essential Services Package delivery program, and improving the quality of services in Bangladesh. Currently, he is working as the Country Representative of EngenderHealth Bangladesh. He also works as an Adjunct Faculty Member of the Population Sciences Department of the Dhaka University. He is a medical graduate with Masters in Public Health and a Diploma in Personnel Management. With his excellent leadership, he is now the President of the Public Health Association of Bangladesh, and a Member of three national-level technical committees constituted by MOHFW.
Dr. Farhad Ali Khan
Dr. Farhad Ali Khan is working as an Epidemiology Director at AstraZeneca, Sweden. He achieved his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College. Later he obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Umeå University, Sweden, Master of Science (MSc) in Epidemiology from Erasmus University, Netherland, and Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Lund University, Sweden. Besides he got training in advanced epidemiology and pharmacovigilance from Harvard School of Public Health. For more than 20 years, he developed courses and taught Public Health and Epidemiology at different universities and worked as a Researcher at Lund University, Karolinska Institute, Sweden, and other academic institutions globally. Besides he worked in international organizations as an Epidemiology specialist.
Dr. Munir Ahmed
Dr. Munir Ahmed is the Country Director of Orbis International Bangladesh. As a doctor with further training in tropical medicine and hygiene, management of public health, and social development, Munir began his career with a great launchpad from which to tackle health concerns. Having previously worked with UN agencies, local governments, and non-governmental organizations across Bangladesh and Afghanistan, in 2012, Munir directed his expertise towards fighting avoidable blindness. He has also been successful in influencing policy at the government level, advocating for the inclusion of childhood blindness, Retinopathy of Prematurity, Diabetic Retinopathy, Vision Centers, and Human Resources for Eye Health within the country’s National Eye Care Plan.
Dr. Rasheduzzaman Shah
Dr. Rasheduzzaman Shah is working as a Child Health Advisor at the Department of Health and Nutrition, Save the Children – USA. His career goal is to improve program coverage and quality of health service delivery for comprehensive and sustainable improvement of maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) initiatives. His interests also are focused to develop national, regional, and global public health and research capacity as well as help translating research results into action and thus leading to facilitate policy advocacy. He has a wide range of working experience in the Maternal and Child-health area. His active and willing association gives an important contribution to the health and development sphere.
Dr. Shams El Arifeen
Dr. Shams El Arifeen is the first director of the Centre for Child and Adolescent Health at ICDDR,B. Shams is also a professor at the James P. Grant School of Public Health at BRAC University in Bangladesh, where he teaches epidemiology. He has nearly 25 years of experience in child and neonatal health, health services and health systems research, including nine years in government health services, with a focus on health interventions for developing populations. Shams holds an MBBS and DrPH and is trained in medicine, public health, nutrition and epidemiology. Shams contributed to the 2003 Lancet Series on Child Survival and has published more than 140 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Major General Md Abdur Rashid (RTD)
Major General Md Abdur Rashid (RTD) is a retired Major General of Bangladesh Army leading Institute of Conflict, Law & Development Studies (ICLDS). He is a security and strategy analyst, op-ed contributor, and public commentator. Currently, he is the Chairperson of Kingdom Group and the Executive Director, Institute of Conflict, Law and Development Studies (ICLDS). Major General Md Abdur Rashid (RTD) was commissioned in Bangladesh Army in June 1978 in the Corp of Artillery. He has served in many important command, Staff, and Instructional positions and retired in December 2007. He is a graduate of US Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and Defence Sevices Command and Staff College, Mirpur, Dhaka. He visited as a member of a military delegation headed by Chief of Army Staff to China, Kuwait, Turkey to forge and foster national relationships. He worked as a UN military observer in former Yugoslavia. He gained first-hand experience of fighting counter-insurgency as a Commanding officer in Chittagong Hill Tracts. After retirement, he devoted to study security environment and nature, characteristics and trend of terrorism in South Asia. He is a frequent face on the national media as a strategic and security analyst.
Dr. Abdun Noor Tushar
Dr. Abdun Noor Tushar is a popular television show host, doctor, debater, writer, and social activist. He worked as CEO of Nagorik TV and Gati Media Ltd. He is a medical graduate from Dhaka Medical College and also a public health expert. He is a former president and founder of the Bangladesh Debate Federation and served as the President of Prothom Alo Bondhu Shova national council. Dr. Noor was the presenter of many remarkable TV shows, including BAUBI 12, SHUVECCHA, JOYTU, and HORLICKS GENIUS BANGLADESH, etc. He worked for USAID and Bangladesh Civil Service in the early part of his career. Dr. Noor was President of Rotaract Club of Dhaka North East and served as District Secretary, and later became a Rotarian and President of Rotary Club of Dhaka East. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He has several notable publications of selected articles, science fiction, poetry, and debates. In Debating, he was the leader of Best Asian Team in Australasian Debates 1993 and ESL champion of World Invitational Debates, Queensland, Australia. He was awarded Bangladesh Chalachitra Sangbadic Samity Award (twice); Onnodin Impress Telefilm Award (Twice); National TV Debate Runners Up award in 1989, SAARC Debate award 1991, Covid Hero award 2020, etc. He is also a Trustee of Bishwo Sahitya Kendro and Advisor of Eminence.
Prof. Dr. ABM Abdullah
Prof. Dr. ABM Abdullah is a Bangladeshi physician, academic, and the personal physician of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He was a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. In 1978 he got the MBBS degree from Dhaka Medical College. He got the MRCP degree from Royal College of Physicians in London. After obtaining MBBS, he joined as a doctor in Dhaka Medical College. Later on, After serving as the Professor at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, he was appointed as the Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Personal Physician. He was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2016 by the Government of Bangladesh. He was given the Bangla Academy Honorary Fellowship.
Prof. Dr. Akhtar Hussain
Prof. Dr. Akhtar Hussain is a Professor of Global Health at Federal University of Ceara, Brazil. Previously he was working as a professor of faculty of medicine, Institute of Health and Society, Department of International Health, University of Oslo, Norway. Prof. Hussain is a life member of the IDF, Diabetic Association of Bangladesh and executive member of the Norwegian Medical advisory body for the Norwegian Diabetic Association. Prof. Hussain has his medical graduation from Bangladesh, and has done post-graduation (Master & Ph.Ds.) from Norway and the USA. He has also obtained advanced degrees in Public Health (MPH) and M.Phil. in Education Psychology in Norway from the University of Oslo. He was awarded with the ‘Bangladesh National Award in Diabetes and Endocrinology’.
Prof. Ava Hossain
Prof. Ava Hossain is a reputed Ophthalmologist of Bangladesh and the Asia Pacific Region. Prof. Hossain is now working as Director Cum Chief Consultant, OSB Eye Hospital, Dhaka. Her contribution to overcoming the challenges in preventing blindness is well recorded. She graduated from Dhaka University in 1976. She did her Fellowship in January 1985. She had her higher training from Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, Edinburgh, and also from the Institute of Clinical Ophthalmology, Japan. She is interested to work in the field of Cataract, Glaucoma, Vitreo-Retinal, and Ocular Trauma. She is a member of the Bangladesh National Council for Blind (BNCB). She is actively involved in the blindness prevention program both Nationally & Internationally.
Prof. AHM Mostafizur Rahman
Prof. Dr. A.H.M. Mustafizur Rahman is the present and fifth Vice-Chancellor of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU). Earlier in this position, he was a professor at Social Science Department of Rajshahi University. During his 34-year-long teaching career at Rajshahi University, Dr. Rahman also served as Syndicate member, head of the department, house tutor, and member of proctorial body. Prof. Dr. AHM Mustafizur Rahman holds BA (Hons) in Sociology (Rajshahi University), MA in Sociology (Rajshahi University), and MS in Rural Sociology (UPLB) (Philippines), Ph.D. in Sociology (Rajshahi University). His areas of interests include Rural Studies, Rural Development, Rural Poverty, Research Methods, Issues in Development. In these areas, He has many pieces published of researches, articles, and books. ‘Sociology of Bangladesh’ (2010), History of Society and Civilization (2005) are his notable books.
Prof. Dr. Md. Aminul Haque Bhuyan
Prof. Dr. Md. Aminul Haque Bhuyan is a Bangladeshi academic. He was the 9th Vice-chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. He is the former Vice-Chancellor (Acting) of Z.H. Sikder University of Science & Technology, Shariatpur, Bangladesh, and also the former faculty member of the University of Dhaka at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science. Prof. Bhuyan completed his master’s and Ph.D. from the University of Dhaka. He earned the MCN (Master of Community Nutrition ) degree from the University of Queensland, Australia. As a researcher, he has vast experience in Food and Nutrition ground.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mohiuddin
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mohiuddin is a Professior at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST). He is a former Professor at the Department of Management, University of Dhaka. Dr. Mohiuddin completed his M.Com and Ph. D degrees from University of Dhaka. He completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management from Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). He has been involved in the teaching and Entrepreneurship Development area for many years. His major interest areas are; Management, Human Resource Management (HRM). Entrepreneurship Development and SME Management, etc. His contributions to the management of people and organizations along with the organizational training and teaching have made him an excellent Management professional.
Prof. Dr. Rashid-E-Mahbub
Prof. Dr. Rashid-E-Mahbub is the chairman of the National Committee on Health Rights Movement. He is a former President of the Bangladesh Medical Association(BMA). He has been working to enhance the overall health condition of the people of Bangladesh by establishing their Health Rights. Has been engaged with many Civil Society Organizations and working for the sake of the Health rights of mass people in Bangladesh.
Prof. Dr. Sameena Chowdhury
Prof. Dr. Sameena Chowdhury is a Professor of Gynecologist and Obstetrician. She is an Ex president of The Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB). Currently she is working at Central Hospital Ltd., Dhaka. She is also an Ex Technical Expert & Adisor of Midwifery Dept. at BRAC University. She studied at Dhaka Medical College and Univesity of London.

Prof. Dr. Soofia Khatoon is a Professor Paediatrics at Centre for Woman and Child Health – CWCH. She is the former Head of the Department of Pediatrics at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital. Prof. Soofia has Studied at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital and got her MBBS in 1980. She got the FCPS degree from Bangladesh College of Physician & Surgeon in 1988. She got the Fellowship in Neonatology from Hospital for Sick Children, University of Edinburgh, U.K. 1991. She obtained her MHPEd (Master of Health Personnel Education) degree from University of New South Wales, Australia 2000. Besides her many publications and She has vast working experience as a Pediatrics Doctor and also as a trainer.
Prof. Farzana Islam
Prof. Farzana Islam is a Bangladeshi academic. She is the current Vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University. In 2014, she became the first female vice-chancellor of a public university in Bangladesh. Prof. Farzana Islam completed her master’s degree in sociology from the University of Dhaka in 1980 and joined Chittagong University as a lecturer of the Sociology Department in 1982. In 1986, she joined the Department of Anthropology of Jahangirnagar and subsequently became its chairperson. She earned her Ph.D. degree from the University of Sussex in 2001.
Prof. Md. Nasim Akhtar
Professor Dr. Md. Nasim Akhtar is serving as a Professor at Department of CSE, Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur. He has obtained his B. Eng (Hons) & M. Eng (Hons) from National Technical University of Ukraine, Kiev, Ukraine in 1997 & 1998. After graduation, he served as a Computer Network Administrator in OR gate computer Dhaka Bangladesh, and also served as a Lecturer in Institute of Management and Information Technology (IMIT). In 2001, he joined Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Gazipur, as a Lecture at the CSE Department. He was then promoted as an Assistant Professor by 2004. In 2010 he got Ph.D. in Data Warehouse and mining from Moscow State Academy of Fine Chemical Technology, Russia. Then he was promoted as an Associate Professor by 2012. His field of specialization includes Data Warehouse and MIning, Operating System, Database. He has a notabel number of published Journals and Articles. One of this books, ‘Operating Systems’ is offered by Bangladesh Open University Diploma in Computer Application (DCSA).
Prof. Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah
Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah is the Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, and a prominent geopolitical analyst. He is also a professor of Public Administration at the University of Dhaka and the former Pro-vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). Prof. Kalimullah completed B. S S in 1980 and M.S.S in 1981 from the Department of Public Administration, University of Dhaka. Under Commonwealth Scholarship, he completed M. Soc. Sc in 1985 and obtained Ph. D in Development Administration in 1980 from the University of Birmingham. Prof. Kalimullah is the founder & Chairman of JANIPOP -Jatiya Nirbachon Parjobekkhon Parishad (National Election Observation Council). He is a globally and nationally recognized civil society member of Bangladesh.
Prof. Sadequl Arefin
Prof. Sadequl Arefin (also known as Arefin Matin) is a Bangladeshi academic serving as the Vice-Chancellor of Barisal University (BU). Before joining Barisal University, he served as professor of social work at the University of Rajshahi. Prof. Arefin obtained B.S.S. (Hons) and M.S.S. in Social Work from the University of Rajshahi. He obtained M.Phil. from Rajshahi University’s Institute of Bangladesh Studies (IBS) in 1993 and Ph.D. in 2003. Arefin started his teaching career at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet. He joined the Department of Social Work, Rajshahi University in 1998. He served as assistant proctor, student advisor and senate member of Rajshahi University. He was General Secretary of Rajshahi University Teachers’ Association and Central Secretary General of Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association. His research focuses on the empowerment of the rural poor. He has 18 international and national research publications.
Prof. Sayed Samsuddin Ahmed
Prof. Sayed Samsuddin Ahmed is a prominent academic from Bangladesh. He is the founder Vice-chancellor of Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib Science & Technology University (BSFMSTU). Before this position, Ahmed worked as a senior professor of the Department of Geology and Mining at University of Rajshahi and also served in different academic, administrative, and co-curricular development activities at the University of Rajshahi. Prof. Ahmed graduated, in 1979, and earned a master’s degree, in 1980, from the Department of Geology and Mining at University of Rajshahi and a Ph.D. in 1993 from Jadavpur University. In 1983, Prof. Ahmed joined as a faculty member in the Department of Geology and Mining at University of Rajshahi. He has long-held experience in university administration including as chairman of the Department of Geology and Mining at University of Rajshahi, Provost of the Madar Bux Hall, University of Rajshahi, member of Rajshahi University Senate and Syndicate, and the administrator of Rajshahi University Press. He was the director of the Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Limited, Dinajpur, Bangladesh.
