HELP

In Bangladesh the predicted elderly population (aged 60 years or above) in 2015 and 2025 will be 11.05 and 17.62 millions respectively. It is anticipated that this change will have serious consequences on the overall socio-economic development of the country. These consequences include insolvency, lack of authority in the family, social uncertainty, inadequate recreational services; deficient in overall physical and mental care and problems associated with the living measures etc. Conventionally, Bangladeshi society is familiar to look after the elderly population through family and community support system. But in recent days due to intra and inter migration, the traditional family support system for elderly population is under threat. This situation is also being enhanced by the demographic, social and economic change, which is resulting in weak traditional form family support for older people and formation of more and more nuclear families.

With the incensement of elderly population in Bangladesh, the population projection shows decreasing number of potential support from about 15 percent in 2001 to 5.0 percent in 2050.  This implies that there will be fewer persons available to support elderly population in future if present demographic transition continues. This suggests that planning and delivering of home based health and other commodities services will eventually become a vital need. Hence, the need based effort for an appropriate alternative - Homely Endeavour for Lonely Parents (H.E.L.P).

HELP means homely endeavour for lonely parents, an endeavour of Eminence that has been created to provide home based service to the parents of NRBs with the aim to improve their physical, emotional, social, and developmental well being.
